CRANSTON, R.I. (WJAR) — A new Applebee’s location in Cranston at Chapel View held its grand opening on Monday.
Applebee’s officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening.

According to officials, this new location will replace the Garden City Center location that was lost in a large fire in 2024.
Nobody was injured during the blaze, as it happened while the restaurant was closed.
Investigators said a worker from a cleaning company was wiping down the hood system when they disconnected the grill from the gas line, causing it to leak. The fire was later ruled accidental.
“The original Cranston was the oldest Applebee’s in New England. So, we were really looking to get another one in Cranston, and we’re finally getting this one reopened today,” Eleanor Clancy, market president of Flynn Applebee’s New England South, said.
She said that over 100 staff members were hired for this location.
The restaurant’s hours will be 11 a.m. to midnight on Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
